February Fun

After all of January's ups and downs, it has been a real blessing to spend the past few weeks settling back into a normal routine with language, little M, and everything else. Of course, we also realize that we are now just six weeks away from the expected arrival date of sweet baby girl S, who will be giving us a new routine that will be anything BUT normal. We are all SO excited about meeting her!

While we were gone to Thailand, something wonderful happened! A Sno Biz cafe opened up in our home city, selling coffee, smoothies, pastries, and best of all... SNO BIZ! (a.k.a. Hawaiian Shaved Ice as I grew up calling it). All three of us have enjoyed this yummy treat more than once. It will be especially great once "hot season" is here.

We had another treat waiting for us when we came home...  a box full of Christmas surprises from my aunt, cousin and Grandmother! Thanks so much for blessing us and encouraging us with gifts and treats from home!

Potty training is in full swing. I'll spare you the details, but he's definitely making progress! While awake (and at home), he just wears his big boy underwear and nothing else. But he is always pretty relieved to put on a diaper & "reg-lee-ur" clothes at nap and nighttimes. :)

We always look forward to our FaceTime conversations with family! M especially loves for Nana or Mimi to read him a book over the phone and show him the pictures!

Before we left for Thailand, K bought a motorcycle, but he didn't have a chance to drive it until after our return. Because parking for "four wheelers" (as they often call cars here) is so hard to find and parking for "two wheelers" (motorcycles and scooters) can always be found (or created), it has already proved to be really convenient to have! It's so easy for him to zip down the street for fresh veggies, fruits and more. But don't worry... the picture below was for a photo op only. For one thing, K always wears a helmet, and for another, M doesn't ride it with him yet.

We are excitedly preparing for our first guests! My parents officially have their tickets in hand, and we are so looking forward to seeing them, and any other guests who someday come our way! Here are K & M putting the guest room bed together:

I am so thankful for a husband who makes me feel loved and appreciated every day of the year... not just Valentine's Day. But it was still nice to have M run out of his room after his nap clutching the below Valentine, which they made while I was in language class. Kenny also made supper that night! Unfortunately our gas cylinder ran out just before he could start making the macaroni and cheese, so we ordered some potato wedges from down the street to go with the baked chicken he made. :)

The next day, a sweet friend volunteered to watch M while K and I went on our first one-on-one date since we came to South Asia! We saw a movie, enjoyed some popcorn, did a little shopping (found a foam ABC puzzle mat to keep baby Shiloh off these hard tile floors!), and had a great dinner at Chili's! M had so much fun while we were gone that as soon as we got back, he promptly let us know that we could "go back on our date now."

Oh how I love these two boys... and the baby girl who will soon be joining us!
