Ever since we arrived in Canada, M has been hearing that Mimi, Granddaddy, J & T were going to come for a visit. That is a long time for a little guy to wait. For weeks he has been asking if they are "on their way."
As we headed down the elevator Friday night, he gave K and I excited hugs. Then he sat in the lobby window of our apartment, waiting for our visitors to arrive.
He was SO excited to see these familiar faces! (I was too!)
It was getting late, so after playing a little and reading a little, they all (M included!) headed back to their hotel. M was able to spend all three nights with them, which he of course loved. I am pretty sure that Mimi and Granddaddy enjoyed themselves too. :)
From reading books...
To eating cheese snacks...
To making crafts...
And taking baths... they all had a great time.
The next day, we headed to the Vancouver Aquarium. On the way, M said he was very excited to see whales, dolphins, penguins, and fish, and he got to see all of the above!
We watched a beluga show, and every time the whales would jump out of the water, M laughed and laughed.
While M and Uncle J were posing in this fish tank, M wanted Aunt T to join too!
M was fascinated by the boa constrictor tank... but it wasn't the ginormous snake that caught his attention. It was a tiny, yellow, POISONOUS frog. It jumped at the glass while he was looking at it, which he loved! Sometimes, it really is the little things in life....

For lunch, we ate in the historic Gastown neighborhood downtown.
We stopped by to see the famous steam clock...
... and enjoyed a great meal together. Complete with ice cream for dessert!
That night, we kept it simple and ordered in pizza while watching the Auburn game on our tiny laptop screen.

The next day, we headed out amid clouds and rain to drive up the Sea to Sky Highway to Squamish... but not before having breakfast at Tim Horton's!
Watching Toy Story on the rental car's DVD player may have been little M's favorite part of the drive!
Here we were at Horseshoe Bay, where many ferries come and go. Sure wish we could have seen the mountains hiding behind all those clouds! :)
Next up was Porteau Cove Provincial Park.
M thought rock-throwing was pretty fun!
A few miles down the road was Shannon Falls. By this time, the rain was falling harder, but that didn't stop us. Bundled in raincoats and sporting umbrellas, we headed out to see the waterfall.
After a barbecue lunch in Squamish (which was OK, but simply not anywhere near Johnny's), we headed back down the mountain.... and little M got a head start on his nap.
That night, we gave Mimi and Granddaddy their first SkyTrain ride! Our destination? Burger King! What can I say? We are enjoying beef burgers while we can.

That night, M had some fun hugs and playtime with J and T.
Mimi and Granddaddy decided to stay one more day near us before heading to Seattle to celebrate their anniversary, and we were so happy they did. While we headed off to class, little M had the excitement of hanging out with them for an entire morning.

I can't put into words how grateful we are for this time with Mimi, Granddaddy, Uncle J & Aunt T. Thank you all for taking the time and expense to come see us in Canada! Now, we will look forward to seeing you all again... on the OTHER side of the world!
