Bittersweet

Dress after dress, dress shop after dress shop. My sweet sister-in-law "J" looked absolutely gorgeous in every wedding gown she tried on!

I was so honored to be there with her, her mom, and Grandma, as she talked excitedly about the big day - making plans and sharing dreams.

It was at the very last shop that she decided on THE dress. She looked & felt like a princess! We all loved it on her and agreed that it was surely the one. As she headed back into the dressing room, it hit me that this was our one time to have a picture together with her in her wedding dress.

As I asked for a quick picture, all four of us burst spontaneously into tears. The bridal shop owner and consultant asked us what in the world was wrong, and as we explained, they brought us a roll of toilet paper and we all cried together.

Until that moment, I had been holding it together pretty well. We are, after all, so excited about our upcoming move and new job. We see this as the opportunity of a lifetime! We wouldn't change any of it, but the reality of just not being here is a tough thing - for us, and for everybody else.

Our time here this summer has been sweet, but also a whirlwind. There are so many people we want to love on, pour into and just be WITH... but there are also just so many hours in the day. There are also the tiny issues of packing our bags and moving out of our house.

Thank you for thinking of us & for walking alongside us. We love and appreciate you more than you know.

Since every post is better with a picture (and since I will absolutely NOT be posting a picture of J in her amazing dress!), I'll close with this that adorable picture Nana captured of M striking a pose.
